There are already some notable things to look forward to. CD Projekt RED has already said that Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansion, titled Phantom Liberty, starring Idris Elba, will be playable at the Private Play Days portion of Summer Game Fest, so it’ll likely make a lifetime appearance. Keighley said on Twitter that we’ll get to see a “world premiere first look” at the new Fortnite season, “Wilds.” And the Summer Game Fest Twitter account has been teasing a “gameplay reveal” of Mortal Kombat 1.

Here are some of the publisher showcases that you can expect to see during the Summer Game Fest season:

  • Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase: This showcase will feature games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda Softworks, and other partners. It will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.
  •   Ubisoft Forward: This showcase will feature games from Ubisoft. It will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.
  •   Square Enix Presents: This showcase will feature games from Square Enix. It will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.
  •   Devolver Digital Showcase: This showcase will feature games from Devolver Digital. It will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.
  •   Nacon Connect: This showcase will feature games from Nacon. It will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.

Summer Game Fest 2023 kicks off at 3 PM ET/Non-PT on Thursday, June 8, and you can watch it on YouTube. The show will be live-streamed from the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. If you want to see it on a movie-sized screen, Summer Game Fest has partnered with Cinemark to screen the show for free in 23 cities.

Among numerous other games, we got a better idea of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s open world, a release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and first looks at new Prince of Persia and Sonic entries. We also saw Mortal Kombat’s latest mechanic, the Kameo system, and plenty of spooky games with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Alan Wake II, and Lies of P. And hey, no arrests were made this year, which is always the sign of a pretty solid show.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an upcoming action-adventure platformer game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft. It is set to be released on January 18, 2024, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. 

Mortal Kombat 1:

  • NetherRealm Studios is developing Mortal Kombat 1, a fighting game that Warner Bros. Games will publish.
  • The upcoming Mortal Kombat game will be the twelfth main instalment in the series and a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11, released in 2019.
  • Mortal Kombat 1 will be the series’ second soft reboot, following Mortal Kombat (2011).
  • The game is set to be released for Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on September 19, 2023.

Sonic Superstars:

  • Sonic Superstars is a 2D platform game developed by Headcannon and released by Sega in 2023.
  • The game features a new story mode that sees Sonic and his friends team up to stop Dr Eggman from taking over the world.
  • Sonic Superstars also features a variety of classic and new stages, as well as new abilities for Sonic and his friends.

Lies of P: Lies of P is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Round8 Studio and published by Neowiz Games. This is based on the 1883 Italian novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

ALAN WAKE II:  Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games Publishing are developing Alan Wake II, a survival horror game sequel to Alan Wake. Mark your calendars for October 17, 2023! It will be available on the PlayStation 5 System, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Get ready to play!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Miles Morales and Peter Parker are back in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. On top of featuring two versions of the iconic hero, the game boasts a map twice the size of Spider-Man (2018)’s, new villains, and a new mechanic in which Venom’s symbiote will impact gameplay.
